October 16, 2019

HELENA— State Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen announced Wednesday that Jenifer Cline has been hired as Montana’s new Director of Student Support Services. Ms. Cline will oversee the Office of Public Instruction’s special education, gifted & talented, and early childhood programs. She takes over for Frank Podobnik who retired from the OPI last month after many dedicated years of service to Montana’s students.

“I look forward to Jenifer’s leadership in advocating for all Montana students,” State Superintendent Elsie Arntzen said Wednesday. “Jenifer brings a wealth of experience in student support at both the state and local level. I am confident in her ability to provide opportunities for all Montana students to succeed.”

Ms. Cline shared that she is “excited about the opportunity to continue to serve students, schools, and families across the state of Montana with the great team of people at the Montana Office of Public Instruction.”

Jenifer has worked in the OPI’s Student Support Services Division since 2017. She previously worked in school districts throughout Montana and Idaho for nearly 20 years in the special education and speech pathology fields, including 12 years in leadership positions. Ms. Cline has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Washington State University-Pullman along with a Class 3 Montana Educator’s License and Montana Speech Pathology Board License.
