MT Department of Revenue’s online livestock reporting and payment system wins state IT award
HELENA – The Montana Department of Revenue’s online system for reporting livestock and paying per capita fees received a 2015 Information Technology Project Excellence Award from the State Information Technology Services Division at the Montana Government Information Technology Conference yesterday in Helena.
Award recipients were department employees Jayme Carlson, Gordon Conn, Mary Croghan, Terry Hutton, and Suzette Maharry, and Montana Interactive project manager Cari Harris.
The IT excellence awards recognize public sector IT projects that are innovative, well-managed, and use IT to meet business needs effectively and efficiently.
“Livestock ownership has been an important economic driver in Montana for over 100 years,” said Gordon Conn, Property Assessment Bureau Chief. “With this service, livestock owners can report their livestock and pay their per capita fees online, and access past reporting records. Being able to report and pay online makes it easier for livestock owners to do business in Montana.”
In past years, the annual reporting and payment process was completely manual and very costly. The new online system will save the department thousands of dollars in printing and mailing costs and in staff hours.
“This online service has a user-friendly layout and gives Montana livestock owners a convenient and secure way to report their livestock,” said Conn. “The system simplicity and the organization breaks down each piece of the process step by step, making it easy for owners to complete their livestock reporting requirement and pay their per capita fees.” The system is available at ReportYourLivestock.mt.gov.
