Legislature’s Revenue and Transportation Committee to Consider Draft Bills Sept. 7-8

The Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee will hold its final regular meeting of the interim on September 7-8, 2016, at the Capitol building in Helena. The meeting will be held in Room 317 and begin at 8:30 a.m. each day. The agenda is available on the committee website.

The committee will finish work on its interim studies by considering requested draft bills for the following studies: tax increment financing districts, the elderly homeowner and renter credit, the Highway State Special Revenue Account, property taxable value neutrality, and tax liens and tax deeds.

Staff will also present requested draft bills to: correct errors from the 2-year reappraisal bill, repeal the income tax credit relief multiple, and provide for primary enforcement of seatbelt laws.

Public comment on draft legislation may be offered at the meeting or be directed to committee staff.

There will also be agenda items devoted to the committee's revenue estimating and monitoring and agency oversight duties including a fiscal year-end 2016 revenue report, an update to the 2019 biennium outlook, a report on managing volatility, updates from the Departments of Revenue and Transportation and the Montana Tax Appeal Board, and requested information from the Highway Patrol.
