HELENA - The Economic Affairs Interim Committee of the Montana Legislature will have a hybrid in-person and Zoom meeting on June 30-July 1 to hear updates on COVID-19 economic impacts and continue work on assigned studies, required reports, and an examination of certain rules proposed by state agencies monitored by the committee.

The committee's studies include a look at the uses of the lodging facility tax and the licensing barriers for those who have criminal convictions. One report is on a reinsurance program intended to keep health insurance rates low for policies sold through the health insurance exchanges. Another report is on historical horseracing. The committee may review related gaming options. Start times, in room 152 of the Capitol, are 9 a.m. June 30 and 8 a.m. July 1.

Also on the agenda are reviews of rules proposed by the Board of Chiropractors (regarding dry needling) and the State Auditor's Office (regarding securities/insurance crossover). The committee also will hear about an option considered by the Board of Dentistry regarding where dental hygienists may practice under a limited access permit.

This is a public meeting. However, due to COVID‐19 public health concerns, the public is discouraged from physically attending meetings in the state Capitol building. Access to the meeting room will be monitored for social distancing; those testifying may have to wait in the hallway before they enter.
