HELENA – Superintendent Elsie Arntzen is offering a free School Finance Summit on June 20, 2022, in Bozeman at the Residence Inn. This summit is open to school board trustees, district clerks, superintendents, policymakers, parents, and community members who are interested in how to utilize school district financial resources. Montana schools received $0.6 billion in federal Covid Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds and only 20.5% of the funds have been expended. The summit will focus on how these flexible ESSER funds can be used to enhance student learning.

“This summit seeks ways to achieve educational excellence through the efficient and targeted use of education dollars,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “This School Finance Summit is a great opportunity to explore fiscal responsibility to impact student success. Learning about the use of taxpayer dollars to deliver quality education is a win for all Montanans.”

Dr. Roza is a Research Professor and Director of the Edunomics Lab, a research center focused on exploring and modeling education finance policy and practice. She leads the McCourt School of Public Policy's Certificate in Education Finance, which equips participants with practical skills in strategic fiscal management, fiscal policy analysis, and financial leadership.

The School Finance Summit is on June 20 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To register please click here. The Summer Institute will also be held in Bozeman from June 21 – 24 at Montana State University. This year’s theme is Putting Montana Students First. The Institute will feature over 150 sessions focused on Superintendent Arntzen’s Montana Hope, Montana Teach, Montana Learn, and Montana Ready initiatives. These sessions are free to all Montana educators and administrators with a paid option to earn professional development units.
