Superintendent Elsie Arntzen Appreciates Attorney General Austin Knudsen for Supporting Montana Parents
HELENA – Superintendent Elsie Arntzen is thankful to learn that the Montana Department of Justice (MTDOJ) has joined a multi-state lawsuit to stand up for parental rights. On October 4, 2021, President Joe Biden’s Attorney General, Merrick Garland, issued a statement at the request of the National School Boards Association (NSBA) calling parents “domestic terrorists.”
Currently, 14 states are involved in a lawsuit against President Biden, Attorney General Garland, and Secretary Cardona. The suit urges the Biden Administration to comply with a series of records requested using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) relating to communications and White House meetings.
“We appreciate that our Montana family values and government transparency are being supported by Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “Parents are the foundation of our children’s education as well as their first teachers. The rights of Montana parents to engage in their children’s education must be respected.”
“Parents concerned with what their kids are being taught in school are not domestic terrorists – and the White House’s attempt to label them as such is deeply troubling,” Attorney General Knudsen said. “Montanans deserve a full accounting of the Biden administration’s plans to surveil parents who attended school board meetings.”
In October Superintendent Arntzen wrote a letter to President Biden urging him to respect local control. She also wrote a letter to the Montana School Boards Association asking them to denounce their association with NSBA.
