Superintendent Arntzen to Host Tenth Community Discussion on OPI’s Implementation of Legislation
HELENA - Superintendent Arntzen will host the tenth monthly virtual community discussion focusing on the Office of Public Instruction’s (OPI) implementation of legislation from the 2023 legislative session. This discussion will be held on March 20, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM via Zoom and will be moderated by OPI’s Chief Legal Counsel, Rob Stutz. These are open opportunities for parents, families, teachers, school leaders, and legislators to participate. The theme is Local Accountability: How Recent Legislation Affects Families, Students, and Communities.
“It is my responsibility to implement legislation as it is written,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “My office has been working hard to ensure that parents, communities, and schools have the resources they need to be compliant with the new laws that affect teaching and learning. I look forward to another meaningful conversation focused on the educational needs of our students.”
This informational discussion will focus on OPI’s implementation of:
- HB 352, Early Literacy Intervention
- HB 549, Charter Schools Bill
- HB 338, Indian Education for All (IEFA)
- HB 949, Data Modernization
The meeting agenda can be found here, and a summary of OPI’s implementation can be found here.
The recordings of past discussions and dates for future discussions are available on OPI’s Parent Resources page. Please join the discussion with your microphone muted as instructions will be given on how and when you will be able to chime in, to keep the meeting running smoothly.
