HELENA- Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen promotes the 2023 Jeremy Bullock Safe Schools Summit on Tuesday, August 8, and Wednesday, August 9 at Central Elementary School. Register today, August 7 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Central Elementary School.

"Our Montana parents, students, and teachers demand and deserve a safe learning environment," said Superintendent Arntzen. “A one-size-fits-all plan will not work in our large state. Expert conversations like this gathering will help schools develop and implement plans that uniquely reflect the communities that schools serve.”

Please join recognized experts from around the state and nation to discuss best practices for student and educator safety and for creating safe school environments. With a theme of Growing School Safety Culture, this statewide Summit is designed for:

  • School Safety Teams
  • Educators
  • School Nurses
  • Mental Health Professionals
  • Law Enforcement
  • Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Coordinators.

The primary objective is to assist in developing or advancing School Safety Plan(s) in accordance with the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) Montana Safety and Security Guidelines Safety Rubric. Attendees will learn, interact, and network with colleagues and key stakeholders from around the state, and bring home resources to continue to fund, develop, improve, and advance school safety plans. With the united goal of ending violence in community schools, this Summit is developed in association with the Jeremy Bullock Memorial Trust, the University of Montana’s Safe Schools Center, and the Montana OPI.

The Jeremy Bullock Safe Schools Summit will feature many thought-provoking guest speakers throughout both days, exhibitors to visit with and check out, food for attendees, and a barbecue after the end of the first day.
