Superintendent Arntzen and MIC3 Extend Purple Star Awards Application Deadline
HELENA- The Montana Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) and the Montana Office of Public Instruction are extending the deadline for accepting applications for Montana’s Purple Star Schools and nominations for Purple Star Champions Awards.
The Purple Star Awards distinguish the Montana schools and individual champions that have displayed extraordinary commitment to supporting our military children and their families. This is the second year MIC3 and OPI will be recognizing Montana schools with Purple Star School Awards; 2021 marks the first year for the Purple Star Champions Award.
“Military families often endure hardships of relocating and separation,” State Superintendent Elsie Arntzen said. “We honor this sacrifice by supporting schools and communities in their efforts to assist these families in and out of times of hardship.”
Resources and training are provided to each school that applies for Purple Star Designation, allowing the best possible support for military-connected students and their families. Nominations for both awards will be accepted until November 24, 2021. The Awardees will be announced in December 2021.
For more information about the nomination process, visit the OPI website.
