Superintendent Arntzen Opens Registration for 27th OPI Summer Institute
HELENA - Superintendent Elsie Arntzen has opened registration for the Office of Public Instruction’s (OPI) Summer Institute. Registration closes on June 9. The Summer Institute will be held in person at Montana State University from June 17 through 20. This year’s theme is Hope, Teach, Learn, Ready. Over 150 sessions will be offered by OPI staff and other educational experts. The four keynote speakers are:
- Randy Russell - The Three Ships: Relationships, Leadership, and Partnerships
- Jo Boaler - Limitless Learning: Learn, Lead, and Live without Barriers
- Mary Anne Moran and John Clements - Navigating the Future: Harnessing the Power of Montana’s Graduate Profile
- Zelphine Smith-Dixon - Inclusive Leadership: The Heart of the Matter and A Tiered Framework of Supports: Keeping Students First
“The Summer Institute is a great learning opportunity for families and educators across Montana,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “The purpose of the institute is to emphasize academic achievement for our children of all abilities. I encourage parents, teachers, and school leaders to register today and put our Montana students first.”
The vision and mission of the Summer Institute are:
- To promote a sustainable system using effective data collection alongside decision-making procedures and evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes in the areas of social/emotional/behavioral competencies and academic achievement for ALL students.
- To provide quality training to Montana school personnel in promoting a positive and safe school climate that provides a multi-tiered system of support for students, families, and staff focusing on social/emotional/behavioral competencies and academic achievement.
There is a registration fee of $69 per person. Educators can receive two graduate credits through Montana State University and the University of Montana if 30 hours of Summer Institute sessions are attended and an essay is completed. To earn graduate credit, a fee of $250 is required. Educators can receive professional learning units for licensing at no charge but cannot receive both Professional Learning Units (PLUs) and university credit.
