Superintendent Arntzen Issues Teacher Appreciation Day Message to Montana Teachers

May 5, 2020

HELENA— Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen issued a thank you message to Montana teachers today in celebration of National Teacher Day and National Teach Appreciation Week.

“On this Teacher Appreciation Day, more than ever, Montanans honor your efforts to go above and beyond to serve our students in these very unusual times,” Superintendent Arntzen said Tuesday. “As a 23-year teacher in Billings Public Schools, I know how hard you work to ensure that your students receive the world-class education that they deserve, no matter where learning occurs.”

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the OPI has been working to ensure that teachers have maximum flexibility in serving their students. The OPI has also ramped up professional development opportunities in distance learning for teachers through the Teacher Learning Hub.

The OPI has offered 111 remote learning sessions since March with 2,721 participants. Additionally, the OPI has secured many state and federal waivers for schools that make it easier for teachers to serve students and parents. Superintendent Arntzen also recognizes the outstanding partnerships that have occurred between teachers and parents on behalf of students. For more information, visit the OPI’s COVID-19 webpage.

Superintendent Arntzen’s full address can be viewed on the OPI’s YouTube Channel.
