HELENA, MT – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen invites Montana High School students to participate in “Operation: Open Hangar” on April 14th in Great Falls. The event is hosted by the Montana Air National Guard Recruiting and Retention Team from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm.

The “Open Hangar” job fair is being hosted by 120th Airlift Wing’s Recruitment Team. High school students will be offered the opportunity to tour a C-130 transport aircraft, learn about state-of-the-art robotic technology used for bomb disposal, and explore other potential career opportunities offered through our Montana Air National Guard.

“Operation Open Hangar is a great example of Montana’s post-graduation opportunities for our youth. Our students’ success relies on providing every possibility available for their future,” said Superintendent Arntzen. “Montana communities are embracing the needs of industry and partnering to help students recognize and reach their full potential. With college and career options we must all work together to help students become Montana Ready!”

“A common misconception about the Air National Guard is that you have to be a pilot to get involved. That couldn’t be further from the truth,” said Montana Air National Guard Major Juan Torres, III. “The Montana Air National Guard is home to one of the most professionally-diverse career forces in Montana and we’re excited to show everyone what we have to offer, whether it be heavy equipment operators, hospitality management, or even finance. I can promise that we have something to fit just about everyone if they’re willing to take the time and check us out!”

This is the first “Open Hangar” event since 2019. As this event is not open to the public, students can register to attend through their school’s guidance counselors.
