Superintendent Arntzen Hosts Work Session on New School Accreditation Process
HELENA – Superintendent Arntzen is hosting a work session on the new accreditation process for new and veteran school superintendents via Zoom on August 14,2023. This new accreditation process is a result of the Board of Public Education approving changes to Chapter 55 of Montana’s Administrative Rules on School Accreditation Standards. School accreditation standards include rules on curriculum, class sizes, teacher, and staff qualifications, Indian Education for All, and student learning assessment to ensure all students receive a quality education.
“This is ensuring great customer service and our Montana schools are our customers,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “The new student-centric accreditation model is very different from the old check-the-box model focused on the number of positions a school filled. My team is here to guide our school leaders through this process to foster success.”
OPI staff from the accreditation, licensure, AIM, and school finance units will be available to superintendents. During the work session, superintendents will be able to create logins and gain insight into deadlines and expectations at the district level. Questions will be answered during the session or can be submitted in advance to opiaccred@mt.gov.
The superintendent work session will be held Monday, August 14, 2023, from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM via Zoom. District and County Superintendents are welcomed to attend. No RSVP is necessary.
