HELENA – Superintendent Arntzen welcomes Dr. Kerri Cissna to Montana’s  Teacher Leader Academy’s (TLA) virtual session on January 27 and 28, 2023. The theme for January is Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurial Thinking. Dr. Cissna will focus on:

  • Identifying and using strengths to lead innovation in the classroom
  • Inspiring students to work towards educational excellence
  • Challenging passive classroom habits where the teacher speaks while students listen

The Executive Leadership Academy is taking place between January 26 and 28, 2023. This session will focus on managing and mitigating risk through:

  • Identifying risk management strategies
  • Learning how to recognize legal risks relevant to school employment and special education
  • Evaluating district’s employee discipline policy and administrative implementation procedure for risk mitigation

“I have focused on bringing innovation and flexibility to our Montana education system as a pathway to academic success,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “I am thankful that Dr. Cissna is sharing her knowledge on innovation in the classroom with our teacher leaders so that they can fulfill the full educational potential of all of our Montana students.”

Dr. Kerri Cissna serves as a visiting professor in Entrepreneurship and Creativity in the Department of Entrepreneurship at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business. Her career in higher education spans two decades and includes Assistant Vice Chancellor in the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, Director of Housing & Residence Life, and Leadership Development Coordinator at Pepperdine University.
