Superintendent Arntzen Encourages Registration for Montana DRIVE Workshops
HELENA – Superintendent Arntzen has opened registration for Montana DRIVE workshops in Lewistown. These one-day workshops are open to all drivers, including teens, and include two hours of classroom instruction followed by six hours of driving. Montana teachers and school bus drivers can earn up to 9 renewal units for professional development. Teachers can also earn one college credit if they stay an extra day and student teach.
“According to the 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 57% of students reported texting and emailing while driving and 52% of students reported that they used the internet or apps while driving,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “Keeping our children safe while behind the wheel is every parent’s goal. These workshops help all Montana drivers improve their confidence and skills behind the wheel.”
Montana DRIVE workshops take place on a closed track next to the Lewistown Airport. These workshops have been operated by the Office of Public Instruction since 1979 and have trained over 17,000 drivers in off-road recovery, skid control, and evasive maneuvers. Workshops begin June 5 and end August 11 with a teen-only week from July 17-21. To register please click here.
