HELENA - Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen issued the following statement in celebration of Earl J. Barlow Day in the State of Montana, as proclaimed by Governor Greg Gianforte:

"Today, I join Governor Gianforte and all Montanans in celebrating Earl J. Barlow Day! Earl is one of the main reasons Montana proudly promotes our unique, Constitutionally guaranteed Indian Education for All. It also happens to be Earl's 94th birthday!

How fitting that Earl was born on American Indian Citizenship Day, which commemorates the day President Coolidge signed the Indian Citizenship Act into law. It granted citizenship to all American Indians born in the United States, and is a day worthy of celebration in its own right.

Today, we joyfully thank Earl Barlow for his many contributions to the State of Montana, and we commit to working together to honor his dedication to Indian Education for All."

Arntzen also posted a video to social media celebrating the occasion.
