Superintendent Arntzen Announces Gifted and Talented Grant for Schools
HELENA – Superintendent Arntzen has opened the Gifted and Talented State Grant Program for Montana schools. The Montana Legislature has funded Gifted and Talented Grants to schools each biennium through a match grant managed by OPI through the digital E-grants system. School districts must complete the Gifted and Talented Intent to Apply with the planned match amount to be eligible to receive funds for 2023-2025. The "Intent to Apply" is now available in E-grants under the 2024 tab and is due May 1, 2023.
“Learning is unique to each and every one of our students,” Superintendent Elsie Arntzen said. “Our Montana constitution promises that our education system will develop the educational potential of each of our children. Local districts with parental support best serve the individual needs of our students.”
The Gifted and Talented State Grant program provides grant funds for supplemental financial assistance to school districts to strengthen the quality of programs for gifted and talented students. The Gifted and Talented Grant is a two year grant. School systems receive state funding to supplement their gifted and talented programs each year, based on their application and the local district gifted and talented education plan required under ARM 10.55.804, with approval based on successful completion of the application. Grants are awarded according to a formula determined by the size and number of applicant school systems, the amount of their matching funds, as required by law, and the funds provided to the program by the legislature.
