Secretary Stapleton, Superintendent Arntzen Encourage Students to Participate in Montana Youth Election

HELENA- Secretary of State Corey Stapleton and Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen announced today that the 2020 Montana Youth Election will take place on October 29th. All Montana K-12 students are encouraged to participate by visiting https://youthvote.sosmt.gov/. The website will have new resources helpful to parents, teachers, and students on October 12th.
Secretary Stapleton said on Wednesday, “I am excited for the next Montana Youth Vote Election on October 29. I look forward to all Montana students K-12 in all schools across Montana participating in one of our most important civic duties, voting. Remember, you can’t complain if you don’t vote!”
Superintendent Arntzen added, “The Montana Youth Election is an important component of civics education. I encourage all Montana students to participate in the Youth Election to make their voices heard and engage in our Nation’s electoral process. Voting is one of the most important rights and responsibilities of American citizens. We must instill the value of participating in the electoral process in the next generation.”
The 2020 Youth Election allows middle and high school students to vote on all of the national and statewide races and ballot issues that registered Montana voters will have on their ballot. Elementary students are able to vote for President and a variety of other interests to younger children. Students will have the opportunity to vote from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on October 29th.
The results will be posted immediately following the closing of Montana Youth Vote and will be posted on https://youthvote.sosmt.gov/. This year, the Montana Youth Vote Ambassador Program is a way for interested students to volunteer in promoting the Youth Election in their community and become more involved in the election process.
