Montana School Safety Advisory Committee Issues Guidance on Safely Preparing and Delivering School Nutrition and Educational Materials

April 14, 2020

HELENA— The Montana School Safety Advisory Committee issued guidance last week to local schools for safely preparing and delivering school meals and educational materials to students in their community during the COVID-19 outbreak. The OPI’s School Nutrition specialists in coordination with Team Nutrition at Montana State University have hosted regular Zoom meetings with local school nutrition staff to answer questions and share guidance.

The Montana School Safety Advisory Committee is housed at the Office of Public Instruction and funded by a federal STOP School Violence Act grant that the OPI secured in 2018. It is made up of various education, mental health, public health, and security specialists to advise best practices for school safety in Montana.

A more detailed presentation on the above guidance can be found on the OPI’s COVID-19 webpage.
