Montana Historical Society’s Museum Store Relocates
The Montana Historical Society Museum Store will close temporarily on October 17, 2025, to relocate from its downtown Helena location to a new, expanded permanent home in the Montana Heritage Center. Renamed "The Gift Shop," the retail space is planned to reopen to the public on December 3, 2025, coinciding with the public opening of the new Montana Heritage Center.
The Gift Shop will be prominently located in the Central Commons of the Heritage Center, occupying a larger footprint than any previous location in the store's history. This expanded space will allow for an enhanced shopping experience and a significantly broader selection of Montana-made products.
"The move to the Heritage Center marks an exciting new chapter for our retail operation," said Aly Arnold, store manager. "We're thrilled to offer visitors a fresh, inviting shopping experience that showcases the very best of Montana's artisans and makers."

Staff have been working closely with local Indigenous artists to respectfully present authentic, handcrafted pieces that honor Montana's rich cultural heritage. The shop's carefully curated selection features artisans from across the state whose work captures the heart and soul of Montana.
Visitors to The Gift Shop will find an extensive array of Montana-made treasures, including clothing, jewelry, artwork, gourmet snacks, books, and delightful finds for children. The store's classic and ever-growing book collection remains a cornerstone of its offerings, celebrating Montana's history and culture in print.
"Whether you're a Montana native, a visitor exploring our state's heritage, or searching for the perfect Montana-made gift, The Gift Shop offers something for everyone," added Arnold. "We can't wait to welcome you into our beautiful new space."
