Montana Legislature Leadership March 31 conference call on CARES Act (UPDATED)

The Leadership of the Montana Legislature will meet in a conference call at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 to discuss the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act’’ or the ‘‘CARES Act". The leaders will discuss a preliminary overview of CARES Act provisions involving emergency funding for state, local, and tribal governments.  A preliminary overview was prepared in response to questions that legislators have raised regarding whether legislative action is needed for the State of Montana to use CARES Act funds to make emergency expenditures.

* Due to Covid-19 public health concerns and the resulting Governor's emergency declaration and social distancing restrictions, the public is prohibited from physically attending this meeting in the State Capitol Building. This meeting is only open to the public electronically. The meeting is expected to be audio streamed live on the internet. To access the live audio stream, please visit: https://leg.mt.gov/

Anyone wishing to provide public comment is encouraged to do so in writing prior to the meeting. Comments on this topic of the CARES Act are welcome. All comments received by legislative staff prior to 8 a.m. on March 31, 2020, will be forwarded to the Leadership. Comments sent during or immediately after adjournment of the meeting will be included as part of the public record and posted to the website as part of the minutes log, unless personally identifiable and protected information is contained in the document.
