Gianforte Calls on President Biden for More Vaccine

Governor's Office
  • February 12 2021

HELENA, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte today again urged President Joe Biden to immediately increase Montana’s vaccine supply from the federal government.

“Montana has been successful consistently in getting shots into the arms of our most vulnerable,” Governor Gianforte wrote to the president.

In his letter, Governor Gianforte highlights that Montana’s vaccine allocation per 100,000 population remains one of the lowest in the country, despite Montana’s tremendous efficiency in administering doses.

“We have answered your calls to efficiently administer the doses we receive. I now ask that you answer ours and send more COVID-19 vaccine doses to Montana,” Governor Gianforte wrote.

According to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on February 11, Montana ranks 16th and 22nd in the nation per capita for fully immunized individuals and first doses administered, respectively. Despite the state’s success with vaccine administration, Montana ranks 45th among states in terms of vaccines allocated, per capita, by the federal government.
