BOZEMAN, Mont. – To mark the 4th day of his 12 Days of Giving campaign, Governor Greg Gianforte today spotlighted the work of Eagle Mount to empower Montanans living with disabilities through outdoor and indoor recreation.

“For over 40 years, Eagle Mount has inspired confidence in thousands of Montanans with disabilities that the ‘sky is the limit,’” Gov. Gianforte said. “I encourage folks to support Eagle Mount – either with their time or resources – as they celebrate the abilities of all Montanans through therapeutic recreation in Big Sky Country.”

Founded in 1982 by Robert and Greta Mathis, Eagle Mount removes barriers to recreation for individuals with disabilities of all ages, as well as young Montanans with cancer. Its staff and volunteers serve nearly 1,000 individuals each year.

“Whether horseback riding, skiing, swimming, gardening, cycling, camping, or climbing, we believe that if you can do it in Montana, you can do it with Eagle Mount,” said executive director Kevin Sylvester.

This week, Eagle Mount launched a new fundraising campaign, called “Syvel’s Story,” highlighting the impact of Eagle Mount on Syvel, one of the Montanans it serves.

Executive Director Sylvester added, “In a world that often treats people with disabilities differently, we know that when recreation is made available to all, communities are strengthened, challenges are overcome, and lives are transformed. Support Eagle Mount today to ensure the adventure and beauty of Montana remains accessible to everyone.”
