GLENDIVE, Mont. – On the road today for his 56 County Tour in eastern Montana, Governor Greg Gianforte visited with veterans, law enforcement officers, and 4-H students before holding his third town hall this month.

“I continue to rely on the perspectives of Montanans as I lead our state, which is my great honor,” Gov. Gianforte said. “With hardworking Montanans in mind, we’ll continue to make Montana an even better place to live, work, raise a family, and achieve the American dream.”

Beginning the day in Terry, Gov. Gianforte met with 4-H youth members at the Prairie County Fairgrounds. There, the governor heard from students about their projects and learned skills, from breeding livestock to woodworking.

Serving nearly 25,000 Montana kids in all 56 counties each year, Montana 4-H is the largest out-of-school youth development program in the state. In December, the governor donated a quarter of his salary to the Montana 4-H Foundation.

Traveling to Dawson County, the governor presented the 2022 Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation to U.S. Army veteran Doug Byron in Glendive.

During his military service, Specialist Byron earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. Byron currently serves on the Dawson County Veterans Memorial Committee and Dawson County Planning Board.

“It was an honor to meet Byron, who served our country in uniform and continues to lead a life of service today,” Gov. Gianforte said. “While we can never repay our veterans for their service, we can say thank you, and that’s what this award is all about.”

Finally, the governor hosted a town hall meeting tonight with residents in Glendive. There, the governor and residents discussed topics that included growing the local economy, investing in infrastructure, defending Montanans’ Second Amendment rights, and cracking down on China.

Residents across Dawson County, including Glendive Mayor Teresea Olson and Dawson County Commissioners, joined the governor at the town hall.

The governor’s 56 County Tour continues tomorrow in eastern Montana.
