Governor Gianforte Honors Vietnam Veterans at State Capitol

HELENA, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte today joined veterans to celebrate Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day at the State Capitol.

“The pride and gratitude Montanans have for our Vietnam veterans was on full display at the State Capitol this morning,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Montana joins the nation today to honor the brave men and women who served in the Vietnam War, and we pause to remember the heroes we lost and those still missing.”

Fifty years ago today, the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam. Commemorating this anniversary, Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day is observed annually on March 29, 2023.

Joining veterans, their families, legislators, and members of the community in a ceremony at the State Capitol, Gov. Gianforte read a proclamation establishing today as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day in Montana.

“Because of our veterans, we live in the greatest country on Earth,” Gov. Gianforte said. “And behind our veterans are brave, supportive families. We’re grateful for their service and sacrifice as their loved ones served our country.”
