HUNTLEY, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte recognized Major Charles Noland yesterday with the 2023 Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation Award.
"It is an honor to pay tribute to Major Noland for his service to our country,” Gov. He is a shining example of the character that drives our state and our nation forward.”

Noland served in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years. In retirement, he spends his time running a successful veterinary practice while also giving back to his community. He is a Senior Vice Commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7407 and a Commander with the American Legion Post. In both roles, he leads Honor Guards at parades and funerary ceremonies. Noland also volunteers with conservation group Pheasants Forever as well as the Boy and Girl Scouts of America. His community activity extends to Huntley Project Schools, where he is a substitute teacher and teaches a course on military service to high school seniors.
Community members turned out in honor of the veteran during a ceremony at the Huntley Project Museum.
