Governor Gianforte Announces Advisory Council for Workers’ Compensation Judgeship Vacancy
HELENA, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte today announced an advisory council to assist in reviewing applicants to the vacancy for the Montana Workers’ Compensation judgeship.
“Montanans rely on the Montana Workers’ Compensation judge to be fair, efficient, and impartial in resolving disputes,” Gov. Gianforte said. “I look forward to receiving the recommendations of these advocates and industry leaders for the best candidates to serve in this important capacity.”
Members of the Montana Workers’ Compensation judgeship advisory council include:
- Ryan Gustafson, attorney at Matovich, Keller & Huso – Billings
- Kim Schulke, attorney at FairClaim – Great Falls
- Nick Mazanec, general counsel for Montana State Fund – Helena
- Mike McGinley, Beaverhead County Commissioner – Dillon
- Erin Foley, secretary treasurer for Teamsters – Butte
- Russ Olsen, member of the board of directors for the Montana Contractor Compensation Fund – Bozeman
- Ann Komac, claims manager for Montana Municipal Interlocal Authority – Helena
On June 5, the governor began soliciting applications from and nominations of any lawyer in good standing who has the qualifications set forth by law to hold the office of district court judge. The application period closed one month later.
On July 6, the governor initiated the 30-day public comment period for the four applicants, which continued through Friday, August 4. During that period, the public had the opportunity to provide letters of support or other comments regarding the applicants. Applicants must have received at least three letters of support to be considered for appointment by the governor.
