Governor Gianforte Mentors Great Falls Students on Careers in Technology and Business
GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte recently visited Great Falls High School to address students and discuss the pathways to careers in technology, business, and entrepreneurship. The Career Exploration class at Great Falls High School is being offered this semester to give students the opportunity to hear directly from Montanans in different career fields.
“Giving students opportunities to learn directly from Montanans working in different fields helps them see what’s possible for their future,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Whether students choose college, career training, entrepreneurship, or another path, we want them to have the freedom and support to pursue their goals.”

During the class, the governor shared his background in business and technology, his path to public service, and his responsibilities in his role as governor. He also discussed the state’s 406 JOBS initiative and how it connects Montanans with college, career, military, and entrepreneurship opportunities across the state. The governor encouraged students to explore jobs, internships, and apprenticeships available in Montana, particularly in high demand fields such as technology.
Great Falls High School Principal Geoffry Habel said the career class gives students valuable exposure to different paths after high school, saying, “This class allows students to explore careers and learning opportunities that align with their interests. Having the governor visit helps students understand the opportunities available to them right here in Montana.”
In January, Gov. Gianforte recognized National School Choice Week in Montana celebrating the important role parents play in their children’s education and the wide range of high-quality educational opportunities available to Montana families. Since taking office, the governor has also prioritized strengthening Montana’s workforce by expanding access to apprenticeships and work-based learning opportunities for students. Following a rule change championed by the governor, there are more apprenticeships available through the state’s Registered Apprenticeship Program than ever before.
“Every student learns differently, and families deserve options that help their kids succeed,” Gov. Gianforte said. “By expanding education opportunities and supporting programs that put students first, we are helping Montana students prepare for meaningful careers and bright futures right here in our state.”
