Leading the Montana Comeback

HELENA, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte today released the following statement in response to a U.S. District Court ruling on the Columbia River System:

“As the demand for electricity grows, our ability to meet demand must do the same. Working across the public and private sector, Montana is building on our legacy of responsible energy development and embracing our all-of-the-above approach to increase reliability and drive down costs for consumers while addressing ongoing fish recovery efforts. Simply put, Montanans depend on reliable, affordable hydropower from the Columbia River Power System. Yesterday’s ruling from the U.S. District Court in Oregon unfortunately limits our ability to fulfil the energy demands of our state, especially at times when we experience severe cold weather events.”
