Brucellosis Designated Surveillance Area Discussion Meetings

Helena, Mont. – The Montana Department of Livestock (MDOL) invites ranchers, veterinarians, extension educators, and other interested people to three (3) meetings in the Montana Brucellosis Designated Surveillance Area (DSA). At these meetings, Marty Zaluski, State Veterinarian, and Brad De Groot, Brucellosis Program Veterinarian, will review recent elk surveillance results, provide updates on market access for destination states, and review brucellosis regulations in the DSA. The department will also discuss a recent audit of the state’s brucellosis program by the United States Department of Agriculture – Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

“As the brucellosis program evolves, keeping ranchers and other industry stakeholders informed on any changes is vitally important” Stated Dr. Martin Zaluski, “We look forward to sharing developments on elk surveillance, export barriers, and changes in regulations.” Presentations and a Q&A session are expected to take approximately 90 minutes.
