HELENA, Mont. – The Montana Department of Commerce announced today that two funding opportunities have been expanded to help Montana entrepreneurs and small businesses strengthen, expand and innovate. The funding is through Commerce’s State Small Business Credit Initiative Program.

“Montana’s small businesses are growing, and with additional funding opportunities on the horizon, more entrepreneurs or small businesses will have the capital they need to take root and thrive,” said Montana Department of Commerce Acting Director Mandy Rambo.

Application rounds for upcoming funding opportunities:
  • SSBCI Funds A new application round for obligating the remaining SSBCI 2.0 program funds will open on May 20, and run through June 30, 2025. More details, including the total amount available for funding, will be announced closer to the application period.
  • Recycled SSBCI Funds Beginning March 10, the application to utilize recycled SSBCI 2.0 funds for new investments will open. This ongoing process allows implementing agencies, such as participating lenders, to reinvest principal repayments from previous SSBCI loans, keeping funds in circulation to support Montana’s small businesses. The application will remain open for the duration of the program, with capital availability contingent on repayments from existing borrowers. Businesses and primary lenders interested in accessing recycled funds can view the list of participating lenders and contact them directly for available balances and to begin the application process.
To ensure clarity and consistency for lenders and business owners seeking funding, Commerce posted an updated SSBCI Loan Participation Program Policy to its website.

The SSBCI is a federal program designed to increase access to capital for small businesses across the nation. The funds support a loan participation program, helping businesses expand, innovate and strengthen the state’s economy.
