HELENA, Mont. – The Montana Department of Commerce announced today that applications are now open for the planning grant segment of the Opportunities in Rural Economies Program suite. The ORE Planning Grant Program offers matching grant funds aimed at supporting planning projects that yield economic impact for rural communities. For this round of funding, the maximum grant award per contract is $50,000. Applications for the planning grant open today, Oct. 15, and close at midnight on Sunday, Dec. 7.

“The ORE Program suite of grant opportunities helps create good-paying jobs for Montanans, promoting stable, long-term economic growth,” said Commerce Director Marta Bertoglio. “With these funds, businesses in rural communities have the opportunity to survive, thrive and build a better life for future generations in Montana.”

ORE PGP funding can be used for eligible planning projects, such as feasibility studies; preliminary architectural reports; preliminary engineering reports; planning support for business improvement districts and central business district redevelopment; and planning for industrial development. The ORE PGP Program is available to eligible businesses and nonprofits. Businesses may work with local economic development organizations on an application.
