HELENA, Mont. – The Department of Administration Director Misty Ann Giles announced the hiring of Adam Carpenter to serve as Department of Administration’s Chief Data Officer for the State of Montana.

“Adam’s experience identifying key performance indicators by utilizing data and analytics to help guide business processes is a welcome addition to our team.” Director Giles said. “His skill set complements our goal of improving the customer experience for the State of Montana.”

Most recently, Adam served as a Machine Learning Engineer Manager at Sogeti USA in Texas. In that role he was responsible for guiding clients across multiple industries through the data maturity journey so organizations could make data and insight driven decisions quickly and efficiently.

“I look forward to helping the department set up its own Center of Excellence for Data to improve the state’s ability to run efficiently, serve the citizens of Montana, and transform the way it does business. Data has real value as an asset and leveraging that value will allow the department to better serve other agencies and the citizens they serve in turn. Additionally, as a Data Scientist by trade I will take an unbiased and scientific approach in order to let the data speak for itself.” Adam Carpenter said.

Prior to joining Sogeti, Adam was a Lead Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist for Pier 1 Imports, as well as served as an IT Security and Business Analyst for XTO Energy.

Adam holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems and an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington and has spent his career helping companies maximize the value in the data they generate through normal day-to-day operations. As a data scientist and machine learning engineer by trade, Adam will bring an unbiased scientific approach to data and analytics.
