The State-Tribal Relations Committee (STRC) kicks off the 2019-2020 interim with a meeting on August 26 to elect its leadership and adopt its work plan. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on August 26 in room 137 of the Capitol.
The STRC will also receive updates on: the U.S. Supreme Court's Herrera v. Wyoming decision regarding Crow tribal hunting rights, Census 2020 preparations, implementation of the missing persons legislation passed in the 2019 session, and the work of the governor's Office of Indian Affairs.
Members of the STRC are Representatives Jade Bahr (D-Billings); Alan Doane (R-Bloomfield); Dale Mortensen (R-Billings); Rae Peppers (D-Lame Deer); Joe Read (R-Ronan); and Sharon Stewart Peregoy (D-Crow Agency); as well as Senators Jen Gross (D-Billings); Dan Salomon (R-Ronan); Jason Small (R-Busby); and Frank Smith (D-Poplar).
