The State Administration and Veterans' Affairs Interim Committee (SAVA) will begin its examination of the benefit claims process for veterans as well as its study of voter accessibility for elderly and disabled electors when it meets in Helena on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The public and all interested stakeholders are invited to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. in room 137 of the Capitol. The agenda and available meeting materials have been posted to SAVA's meeting information web page. Public comment is invited as scheduled on the agenda.
Also on the agenda is an informational briefing on the new sports wagering law, House Bill 725 (2019), and a presentation from the Commissioner of Political Practices, Jeff Mangan. Commissioner Mangan will be recommending that the committee examine the state's current lobbying laws, consider various policy issues, and if deemed appropriate, develop committee legislation to update and revise these laws. The committee will also adopt a detailed work plan based on the priorities it set at its June 27 meeting.
