EPIC STORY OF TEXAS CATTLE DRIVE INTO MONTANA TOPIC AT MHS
Montana Historical Society Museum Technician Vic Reiman will present a free public program “E.C. ‘Teddy Blue’ Abbott: The Texas Trail and the Open Range” Thursday (April 14) at 6:30 p.m. at MHS.
Abbott came to Montana with a Texas trail herd in 1883 and lived in Montana where he became a legend for the rest of his life. He married the daughter of famous Montana pioneer Granville Stuart and told his story to Helena Huntington Smith in the book “We pointed Them North: Recollections of a Cowboy.”
Reiman has researched the history of the cattle industry in Montana, and works with MHS’s gun collection and other cowboy tools. The Teddy Blue Abbott book is available in the MHS Museum Store.
