Legislative Audit Committee to review financial-compliance audits for two of the state’s largest agencies; the Department of Transportation and the Department of Labor and Industry. The committee will also be assessing the financial performance of the state’s pension plans through review of financial audits of the Public Employees’ Retirement Board and the Teachers’ Retirement Board.
The Legislative Audit Committee (LAC) will meet Monday, January 13 and Tuesday, January 14, 2020, in room 102 of the State Capitol building. The Legislative Audit Committee ensures accountability for the disposition and use of public funds, and the efficient and effective management of state government programs. The committee meets regularly to review Independent Audit Reports, interact with audited agencies, and advise and consult with the Legislative Auditor and the staff of the Legislative Audit Division.
Financial and financial-compliance reports scheduled for review in January include: Montana Department of Transportation, Montana State University, Montana Board of Housing, Teachers’ Retirement Board, Public Employees’ Retirement Board, and Department of Labor and Industry.
Scheduled for review are two contract audits of the State of Montana Legislative Branch and the Consumer Counsel.
The committee will be discussing potential information systems audits for calendar year 2020 and providing input to their staff on prioritization of these projects for the upcoming year. The committee will also be hearing presentations on performance and information systems audit follow-up’s titled Tax Increment Financing Administration and Impact, and Statewide Accounting, Budgeting, and Human Resources.
