The Judicial Redistricting Commission will meet September 3 at 9 a.m. in Room 137 of the State Capitol in Helena. A tentative agenda and other meeting materials are now available at the commission's website, www.leg.mt.gov/jrc.
At this organizational meeting, the commission will elect officers, plan its work for the 2015-2016 interim, and begin the task of determining if the state's district court boundaries should be adjusted. The commissioners will review the existing judicial districts, the history of judicial redistricting in the state, and the constitutional and statutory provisions governing the districts and redistricting. In addition to other background information, they will receive an in-depth review of caseload and judge workload data. The public will have opportunities to provide comments to the commissioners.
The meeting will be broadcast online at www.leg.mt.gov and also on Montana's public access station, TVMT. For more information about a TVMT station in your area, visit www.leg.mt.gov/tvmt.
