AN INCREDIBLE WESTERN FRONTIERSMAN YOU PROBABLY HAVEN’T HEARD OF TOPIC AT MHS
If you’ve heard of John Healy, you are probably an expert on the history of the U.S. and Canadian West.
Alberta author Gordon Tolton will discuss and sign copies of his new book, “Healy’s West: The Life and Times of John J. Healy,” Thursday (April 28) at 6:30 p.m. at the Montana Historical Society just east of the State Capitol.
During his 50-year career on the U.S. and Canadian frontier, Healy was a soldier, trapper, prospector, free trader, explorer, horse dealer, scout, lawman, newspaper editor, speculator, merchant, capitalist, historian and politician.
Healy offers a unique look at a man who literally lived nearly every lifestyle the early West had to offer.
The program is free and open to the public, and the new book is available in the MHS Museum Store.
