HELENA, MT – Governor Steve Bullock today announced an Executive Order expanding prohibitions on discrimination in state employment and state contracts.
“Today we remember and honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and recommit to the values and principles he fought for every day – compassion, acceptance, and equality,” said Governor Bullock. “I am honored to stand up for all Montanans to ensure that no one is denied full and equal participation in our State’s workforce based on discrimination and intolerance.”
The Executive Order directs the Department of Administration, which is charged with the administration of state personnel and procurement policies, and all agencies, managers, supervisors, and employees under the jurisdiction of the State of Montana to implement policies that expand prohibitions on discrimination in state contracts to include:
- Pregnancy, childbirth or medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth,
- Genetic information, gender identity or gender expression, and
- Military service and veteran status.
