The Education Interim Committee (EDIC) will meet Thursday-Friday, November 21-22, 2019, in Bozeman. The committee will visit multiple education sites around Bozeman and hold a joint meeting with the Board of Regents of Higher Education.
On Thursday morning, the committee will visit Bozeman Public Schools to learn about the Running Start Kindergarten program, competency-based education at Bridger Charter Academy, and the district’s trauma-informed approaches to addressing student well-being. The committee will also visit Zoot Enterprises to hear about their early learning programs and work-based learning partnerships.
Thursday afternoon, the committee will meet in the Strand Union Building on the MSU-Bozeman campus and have presentations on teacher recruitment and retention, student mental health, financial literacy, and veteran services.
The committee will hold a joint meeting with the Board of Regents on Friday morning to discuss university system initiatives, the state of research, and how to foster ongoing collaboration between the Regents and the Legislature. The committee will visit Gallatin College Friday afternoon.
