The Local Government Interim Committee will hold its third meeting of the 2017-2018 interim on March 14 and 15 in the Capitol.

The Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee holds its next meeting on March 13-14 in rooms 137 and 317 of the Capitol in Helena, beginning at 8 a.m. each day. The agenda and materials for the meeting are available on the committee’s website.

The Local Government Interim Committee will meet on November 8, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and November 9, beginning at 8:00 a.m. in Room 152 of the state Capitol building in Helena. The first day’s agenda is dedicated to the committee’s two interim studies—involving local fire protection and emergency services--followed on the second day by a variety of topics including the Montana State University-Extension Local Government Center, local government budgeting, the origins of the local government entitlement share, a Department of Environmental Quality subdivision review pilot project, and the information and guidance being provided to cities and counties on requesting funds generated from the gas tax increase in the Bridge and Road Safety and Accountability Act (HB 473, 2017).

The Local Government Interim Committee meets July 14 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 102 of the state Capitol building in Helena. Representatives of cities and counties will share with the committee their ideas on the role the committee could play in strengthening the relationship between the legislature and local governments, as well as identify policy areas the committee might explore.
