The Economic Affairs Interim Committee of the Montana Legislature will meet April 26 on issues ranging from liquor law changes to studies on unemployment and emergency care. On April 27 the members will convene as a subcommittee to hear options for restructuring Montana’s workers’ compensation system. Both meetings will be in Room 137 of the state Capitol.

In the Economic Affairs Interim Committee’s Feb. 7-8 meeting the focus will be on meat processing plants, workforce development on reservations, and the future of Montana State Fund as the state’s guaranteed provider of workers’ compensation.

Along with undertaking standard agency reviews of three state agencies at its Nov. 7, 2017, meeting, the Economic Affairs Interim Committee (EAIC) will begin work on two of its three assigned studies. The EAIC will devote a full day on Nov. 8 to the third study, which is on workers’ compensation. The meetings will be in Room 137 of the state Capitol building in Helena.

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee of the Legislature voted at its Sept. 14 meeting to devote a major portion of the next 12 months to studying the future of Montana State Fund.

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee (EAIC) will hear updates from three state agencies at its Sept. 14, 2017, meeting. Budget concerns and agency prospects will be the main themes as the eight-member EAIC hears from the Department of Livestock, the Department of Labor and Industry, and the State Auditor’s Office. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in Room 152 of the State Capitol in Helena.

Fifteen people have been selected to serve on a subcommittee that will examine matters related to transparency in health care pricing, the presiding officer of a legislative interim committee announced on Wednesday. 

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee (EAIC) will have its first meeting of the interim between legislative sessions on June 14, 2017. The meeting will be in Room 137 of the State Capitol in Helena, starting at 12:30 p.m.

The legislature’s Economic Affairs Interim Committee will conclude its year-long studies on the costs of air ambulances and licensing boards at its Aug. 30-31 meeting. The meeting will start at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30 and at 8 a.m. on Aug. 31 in Room 137 of the State Capitol. The public is welcome to attend and comment on proposed bill drafts.

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee on June 22 will hear perspectives about expanding workers' compensation coverage for post-traumatic stress diseases and whether to recognize a presumptive link to certain diseases experienced by emergency responders. Also on the agenda are updates on two audits of the Department of Livestock and various other issues reviewed by the committee in the past year.

The legislative interim committee assigned to monitor state agencies dealing with a broad range of business activities will continue its study of air ambulances and add economic development and a review of proposed fees on dairies and manufacturers of cheese and ice cream to its Feb. 4-5 meeting agenda.
