Wednesday, June 1, 2016/Categories: Department of Environmental Quality/Tags:

Helena – The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has approved a Montana Pollution Discharge Elimination System Stormwater permit for the Rock Creek Mine Road Project. This permit covers construction and repair of Rock Creek Road (National Forest Service Road #150) near Noxon.

The permit authorizes RC Resources, Inc. to discharge stormwater associated with the road construction into Rock Creek and its tributaries. The permit requires RC Resources to meet all effluent and turbidity limits, monitoring requirements, and other conditions including sediment controls, pollution prevention measures, and stormwater management conditions. It does not authorize dewatering or non-stormwater discharges.

The permit becomes effective on July 1, 2016, and is available to view online here. Questions about the permit can be directed to Rainie DeVaney, DEQ Water Protection Bureau, 406-444-6769, or by email at: rdevaney@mt.gov
