HELENA, MT – Corey Stapleton was sworn into office as Montana’s 21st Secretary of State. The ceremony took place today in the Rotunda of Montana’s State Capitol building.
“Elections are at the heart of our democracy, and business is the heartbeat of our communities. I’m honored to be your new Secretary of State, and look forward to serving the people of Montana,” said Stapleton.
Stapleton is a fourth-generation Montanan from Great Falls, Montana. After graduating from the Naval Academy with an engineering degree, Stapleton spent eleven years as a Surface Warfare Officer before returning to Montana. Corey served in the Montana State senate from Billings (2001-2009), and was the Republican Leader before being term-limited. He and his wife have raised their four children in Billings.
