The Legislature's Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee will meet March 10-11 in Room 102 of the Capitol building beginning at 8 a.m. each day. The agenda for Thursday includes a fiscal year 2016 general fund revenue collection update and a committee discussion about the joint revenue subcommittee process used last interim and options for continuing a subcommittee process. The committee will also work on four of its studies on Thursday: the adequacy of local government revenue generating capacity, nonprofit reporting of community benefits, property taxable value neutrality, and tax increment financing. In addition, the committee will receive agency updates from the Department of Revenue and the Montana Tax Appeal Board and discuss the legislative session procedure for revenue bills.
Friday’s agenda will include the other committee studies: taxation of international corporations doing business in Montana, treatment of intangible property for centrally assessed property valuation, tax liens and tax deeds, the elderly homeowner and renter income tax credit, and the Highway State Special Revenue Account. The committee will also receive an update from the Department of Transportation, an administrative rule review, and an individual income tax credit analysis presentation.
Meeting materials are available on the committee website. Questions about the upcoming meeting or the committee’s work may be addressed to committee staff, Megan Moore, at email@example.com or 406-444-4496.
