Superintendent Arntzen's 2017 Review

The year 2017 has brought new and expanded partnerships at the Office of Public Instruction, as well as a fresh set of goals and vision for putting Montana students first. I am accomplishing these goals through four key initiatives.

A majority of the members of an interim legislative committee have decided that four rules reducing reimbursement rates for providers of health care and human services have been changed in a way that addresses an objection the committee made to the rules.

The Water Policy Interim Committee identified exempt groundwater wells as one of its study issues for the 2017-2018 interim. The committee meets Jan. 8-9 in room 172 of the Capitol in Helena.

Governor Steve Bullock today announced Montana’s unemployment rate was 4.0% for the month of November, maintaining the same relative level for most of 2017. The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 4.1%.

The Montana Department of Revenue announces a new property tax assistance program to help residential property owners whose land value is disproportionately higher than the value of their home.

Governor Steve Bullock today announced that he has nominated Tom Towe of Billings, Montana for consideration to serve on the National Park System Advisory Board.
