OFFICE OF THE STATE PUBLIC DEFENDER SEEKS PUBLIC COMMENT REGARDING PROPOSED RATE ADJUSTMENTS FOR CONTRACTORS

Butte, MT – The Office of the State Public Defender (OPD) is accepting public comment regarding proposed adjustments to rates paid by OPD for work performed by contract professionals in all disciplines. The proposed rate adjustments are part of OPD's plan to reduce expenditures due to a budget shortfall. The proposed rate adjustments can be found here.  The proposal suggests that the new rates be effective March 1, 2018 for all work performed on and after that date.

OPD will hold two meetings for public comment on this proposal: February 6, 2018 at 10 a.m., and February 9, 2018 at 1 p.m., at the OPD Central Services office located at 44 West Park Street in Butte, Montana.  To allow greater public access, each local OPD Office will be set up to participate via tele-conference.  Please see the OPD office location map to find the nearest office to you.

Further, OPD encourages all interested parties to submit written comments, which will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on February 16, 2018.  Please submit all written comments to brett.schandelson@mt.gov with “Rate Adjustment Comment” in the subject line.  To be guaranteed consideration, comments must be received prior to that deadline.

OPD will make reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities wishing to participate in the public meetings or make public comment.  If you require accommodation, please contact Brett Schandelson, Contracts Manager, at (406) 523-5142 or brett.schandelson@mt.gov at least three days before the meeting or deadline to accept public comment.
