The Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee will meet June 9-10 in Room 137 of the Capitol building beginning at 8 a.m. each day.
The agenda includes items for each of the committee's studies, which are on the following topics: tax increment financing, the Highway State Special Revenue Account, elderly homeowner and renter credits, the adequacy of local government revenue generating capacity, intangible property valuation, property tax neutrality, nonprofit reporting of community benefits, tax deeds and tax liens, and international corporations doing business in Montana. The committee will discuss possible recommendations for the studies and may request committee legislation.
The committee will also conduct its revenue estimating and monitoring duties by receiving a 2019 General Fund Outlook, considering what information to request in preparation for adopting a revenue estimate in November, and hearing a subcommittee's recommendation on whether to formalize a revenue estimating subcommittee during legislative sessions.
The Departments of Revenue and Transportation and the Montana Tax Appeal Board will provide agency updates, including requesting agency legislation.
The committee will also receive additional analysis on the rereferral of revenue bills originating in the taxation committees and consider clarification legislation, agency monitoring duties for DOR's Liquor Control Division, and whether to recommend a change to the income tax credit relief multiple.
