Governor Bullock's Appointments

Governor Steve Bullock today announced the following appointments.

Montana Agriculture Development Council

  • Lars Hanson, Edgar. Qualification: Actively engaged in agriculture. Hanson is the Vice President of Agricultural Lending for Stockman Bank.

 

  • Tara Mastel, Whitehall. Qualification: Actively engaged in agriculture. Mastel is an Associate Specialist with the Montana State University Local Government Center and comes from families of homesteaders.

 

  • Patricia Quisno, Harlem. Qualification: Actively engaged in agriculture. Quisno is currently an operator for her family ranch in Blaine County.

 

Montana Alfalfa Seed Committee

  • Ernest Johnson, Chinook. Qualification:  Actively engaged in the growing of alfalfa seed within the state, deriving a substantial portion of their income from handling, packing, shipping, buying or selling alfalfa seed, or acting as a broker or factor of alfalfa seed. Johnson is an alfalfa farmer from Blaine County.

 

  • John Mehling, Hardin. Qualification:  Actively engaged in the growing of alfalfa seed within the state and the rearing of alfalfa leaf-cutting bees. Mehling is an alfalfa farmer from Big Horn County.

 

  • Cavin Steiger, Forsyth. Qualification: Actively engaged in the growing of alfalfa seed within the state, deriving a substantial portion of their income from handling, packing, shipping, buying or selling alfalfa seed, or acting as a broker or factor of alfalfa seed. Steiger is an alfalfa farmer from Rosebud County.

 

Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors

  • Wally Gladstone, Billings. Qualification: Professional Engineer (Civil). Gladstone is a professional engineer and land surveyor with Northern Engineering and Consulting, Inc.

 

  • Byron Stahly, Helena. Qualification: Professional Engineer (Civil). Stahly is the President of Stahly Engineering and Associates, Inc.

 

Future Fisheries Review Panel

  • Karin Boyd, Bozeman. Qualification: Member from the private sector who is a fisheries restoration professional. Boyd is the Principal Geomorphologist for Applied Geomorphology, specializing in aquatic resource management and restoration design.

 

  • Terry Chute, Helena. Qualification: Member with expertise in silviculture. Chute is an environmental planning consultant.

 

  • Chuck Dalby, Helena. Qualification: Public member. Dalby is a hydrologist and geomorphologist for the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.

 

  • Michael Johns, Bozeman. Qualification: Member who is a licensed angler. Johns is the Chief Executive Officer for Bridger Orthopedic and Sports Medicine at Rocky Mountain Surgery Center.

 

  • Clint Peck, Billings. Qualification: Representative of conservation districts. Peck is the Owner and operator of Yellowstone Cellars & Winery.

 

  • Meriwether Schroeer-Smith, Helena. Qualification: Montana High School Student. Schroeer-Smith is a Senior at Helena High School.

 

  • Bill Wichers, Hamilton. Qualification: Member with expertise in fisheries. Wichers is a retired fisheries biologist, coordinator, supervisor and deputy director of Wyoming’s Game and Fish Department.

 

  • Joe Willauer, Butte. Qualification: Member who is a licensed Montana angler. Willauer is the Executive Director of the Butte Local Development Corporation.

 

Information Technology Board

  • Cece Harris, Belgrade. Qualification: Member representing the private sector. Harris is the Customer Success Ops Manager for OppSource.

 

  • Sean Higginbotham, Great Falls. Qualification: Member representing local government. Higginbotham is the Information Director for Cascade County.

 

  • Commissioner Chris Mehl, Bozeman. Qualification: Member representing local government. Mehl is a Bozeman City Commissioner, and is the Policy Director for Headwaters Economics.

 

Invasive Species Council

  • Dennis Longknife, Harlem. Qualification: Representative of the Fort Belknap Indian Community. Longknife is the Climate Change Coordinator for the Fort Belknap Indian Community.

 

  • Laurie Shafer, Poplar. Qualification: Representative of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes. Shafer is a Water Coordinator and Specialist for the Fort Peck Tribes.

 

  • Alec Underwood, Missoula. Qualification: Representative of a Wildlife Organization. Underwood is the Western Field Representative for the Montana Wildlife Federation.

 

  • Daryl Wright, Box Elder. Qualification: Representative of the Chippewa Cree Tribe. Wright is a member of the Chippewa Cree Business Committee with expertise in the field of water resources.

 

Land Information Advisory Council

  • Lee Macholz, Missoula. Qualification: County or municipal government and is active in land information systems. Macholz is the GIS Coordinator and Cartographer for City of Missoula Water.

 

  • Shawn Walks Over Ice, Crow Agency. Qualification: Indian Tribal Interests. Walks Over Ice is a Planner/Designer for the Crow Tribe Transportation Department.

 

Libby Asbestos Superfund Advisory Team

  • George Jamison, Libby. Qualification: Citizen of Lincoln County nominated by the Lincoln County Commission and Selected by the Governor. Jamison is the Vice-Chair of the City-County Board of Health for Lincoln County.

 

Petroleum Tank Release Compensation Board

  • Jim Corson, Billings. Qualification: General public. Corson worked in the office of Senator Max Baucus for 14 years and the office of Senator John Walsh for one year. Prior to joining Senator Baucus’s staff, Jim spent 10 years working with seniors at the Council on Aging in Billings. 

 

  • Heather Smith, Bozeman. Qualification: Representative of the financial or banking industry with experience in small business or property loans. Smith is a Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer for First Security Bank.

 

  • Ed Thamke, Helena. Qualification: Background in environmental regulation. Thamke is the Waste and Underground Tank Management Bureau Chief.

 

Board of Psychologists

  • Dr. Sara Boilen, Whitefish. Qualification: Licensed Psychologists in Private Practice. Boilen is a Psychologist with Sweetgrass Psychological Services, PLLC.

 

Montana State Workforce Innovation Board

  • Karen Baumgart, Billings. Qualification: Community Organization. Baumgart is the Director of Billings Works Workforce Council.

 

  • Vicky Byrd, Clancy. Qualification: Workforce Representative. Byrd is the Executive Director of the Montana Nurses Association.

 

  • Al Ekblad, Great Falls. Qualification: Workforce Representative. Ekblad is the Executive Secretary for the Montana State AFL-CIO.

  • Aaron Arthur, Miles City. Qualification: Member representing a telecommunications provider with less than 50,000 subscriber lines in Montana. Arthur is the Vice President of Field Operations for Mid-Rivers Communications.

 

  • Doug Hansen, Billings. Qualification: Member representing a public utility that owns an underground facility that is an electric distribution or transmission line in Montana. Hansen is the Rocky Mountain Region Manager for Montana-Dakota Utilities.

 

  • Doug Hardy, Great Falls. Qualification: Member representing a rural electric cooperative operating in Montana. Hardy is the General Manager of Central Montana Electric Power Cooperative.

 

  • Jason Moothart, Billings. Qualification: Member representing a telecommunications provider with more than 50,000 subscriber lines in Montana. Moothart is the Manager of Region Operations for CenturyLink.

 

  • Mandi Nay, Circle. Qualification: Member representing a regional water, wastewater or both authority. Nay is the Coordinator for Dry-Redwater Regional Water and Wastewater Authority.

 

  • Theron Pavlik, Bozeman. Qualification: Member representing excavators. Pavlik is the Superintendent for SIME Construction.

 

  • Nich Pericich, Bozeman. Qualification: Member representing a municipal sewer or water system or a municipal water supply system. Pericich is the Assistant Superintendent for the City of Bozeman’s Water and Sewer Division.

 

  • Dale Schultz, Butte. Qualification: Member representing a public utility that owns an underground facility that is a jurisdictional pipeline in Montana. Schultz is the Manager of System Integrity and Technical Services for NorthWestern Energy.

 

  • Michelle Slyder, Laurel. Qualification: Member representing owners or operators of an underground facility that is a jurisdictional pipeline in Montana that is not a public utility. Slyder is the Department of Transportation Compliance Manager, Pipelines and terminals for CHS/Cenex Pipelines.

 

Upper Columbia Conservation Commission

  • BJ Johnson, Kalispell. Qualification: Representative of Recreation Organizations. Johnson is the Owner and Lead Guide for Sea Me Paddle Kayaking.

 

  • Phillip Matson, Columbia Falls. Qualification: Representative of private landowners. Matson is a Research Assistant for the Flathead Lake Biological Station for the University of Montana.

 

  • Chris Parrott, Kalispell. Qualification: Representative of private industry. Parrott is the owner of Jesco Marine & Power Sports.

 

  • Stacey Schnebel, Coram. Qualification: Representative of Electric Cooperatives in the area. Schnebel is the Co-owner of Stonefly Lounge, and UnderCurrent Web and serves as a Trustee for the Flathead Electric Cooperative.

 

Board of Veterans’ Affairs

  • Tom Finch, Jr., Helena. Qualification: Representative of the veterans’ employment and training service office in the United States Department of Labor, who is a nonvoting member. Finch is the Director of Veterans’ Employment and Training for the U.S. Department of Labor.
